Bossy boss

Eversince the boss moved to the 1st floor, things have changed. I am working with him virtually, we message each other and use the telephone to communicate…emails included. But then I have the assistant manager who is sitting at the boss' former office up here. She took over some tasks of what the boss was doing when he was here (in terms of insurance and Reps admin).

Day by day, I have been feeling a little depressed, a little underachieved as I don’t seem to be getting the daily 'up to the minute' admin scoop…which lead to misadministration and miscommunication at times. The assistant managers are mostly in their own worlds and come to me only in the 11th hour to complete a project.

Today, the boss proposed a new project to me. Before that we had a pep talk (after I complained that he's virtually bossy too!)…he said that I am doing a great job. Sigh…and I meant a huge SIGH cos I am really not feeling that I am doing anything great. I feel underachieved and underperformed. But hey, I did not want to sound like a whiner yet. I asked 'You think? I don’t feel so!'…then as usual, we got sidetracked on other issues and didn’t really talk about how I was feeling.

But as we both left his office (him to a meeting and me back to the 2nd floor), he mouthed 'Thank you' to me. And I said 'Sure sure…and stop being bossy'…and he said 'You better take them stairs instead of the elevator!'…HAH!

Uh oh, sounds like I'd better prepare for a night of enduring some serious rage that is normally only seen in postal workers.

Hehe. Seriously, Kent thinks the world of you, and I believe he still has big career plans for you. Don't look too much into the bad days, and know that he is still looking out for your best interest.

Now, wipe off that frown and come home. We're all waiting for you.

I wonder what he meant by you taking the stairs instead of the elevator...?

hello husband! i know i know i know. but sometimes he can surely be a pain!

green highlighter, it meant that the boss was 'bossing' that i should go by what he said...just for the sake of it.

Sounds you have a great Boss Ely. I can feel how you start feeling the drawbacks.. You just have to focus Girl.. look at 'managing change' and take this 'setback' as a challenge, an opportunity for you.
One way is to offer the work that your Boss always do on floor 2, so you will now be looked to as a Boss re-incarnate. A great way to get yourself be noticed, now as a bigger Leader.
Good Luck Ely

CB, thank you, such consoling words.

you are indeed right. i hate to say it but the husband says the same thing too.

yesterday, the boss came to floor 2 and gave me a tiny hug...he said that i am doing a great job and he appreciates my support to the team.

what can i say, i was not beaming with pride when he said that but instead i said ,'u better remember that man!'

boss, re incarnated, that is so precise. i was working under his wings, and me being here just ensures the other assistant managers to produce the same standard as his...so he says.

i still feel a lil bit blah but i will get out of it pretty soon.

thank you...
