TGIF?

Yes, its Friday again! A week of no management breathing down my neck and giving me more projects to complete. Good thing, as of today, I managed to complete 90% of the projects assigned to me. No management, I could work in peace...

So...what to look forward to during the weekend? Firstly, since my husband, David, has been working from home since the past 3 months, he has totally invaded our household computer. Sure, I know, gotta give some understanding as he's making $$ from home right? But come on, now that I have a blog (ahemmm!) and I do miss chatting with my friends on Yahoo! msgr, I need some fair share of computer time! So I exploded a few days ago telling him that I need my own computer...a laptop, with wireless connection, and MS Office.

And the husband says 'OK OK, I'll get you a laptop by next weekend!'...yahooooooooo... I was like my 11 year old daughter when she got her first cell phone. Best nyerrrrrrr...so I am still thinking of Dell with DVD player, just so that we could play movies when we go to LA or somewhere out of town.

The right color...

and all I need is the right color for the lipstick that I just ran out. Its Maybelline color 186 and when I ran out of it, I could not find it anywhere! Not at Walgreens, Target, anywhere. The frustrating part was when they have all the numbers and when they reached number 185, they skip 186! Thats just so not right...sigh!

Anyway, I have the weekend to find my Maybelline 186 color. Wish me luck!

Lunch meeting...again!

Do any of you here attend a lot of lunch meetings in your worklife?

At first, I thought that it be such a refreshingly new experience...yeah right! Since I am with APIC (Asian Pacific Islander Connection), these meetings are mostly during lunch. Not funny when you have 3-4 of such meetings in a week!

Today, we had such lunch meeting and I almost dozed off when I finished my huge salad. Cannot tahan, by 12.40pm, I told them that I had to go back to the office....not!!! I went down to the cafeteria and got myself an ice cream before I headed back to the office.

Sorry...if Ely's brains say that she can't think, she really can't!!!!!!!

Yup, can be quite a mouthful...try driving to all 3 places in 24 hours!

May 28th 2005,
Was Iskandaria's graduation day. And it was also the Memorial 3 day weekend. For Californians, its a pain the the butt to drive down I-5 freeway to southern California unless we drove in the wee hours of the morning...and so we did. Left home at 4am and we checked into LA at approx. 8am! Great timing!It was a great visit, met my teacher (Issy's mom) whom I have not met in 20 years!




Then we drove 1.5 hours back to Zee's house in San Diego. Never had the best sleepover in my life...esp when you're so tired after the long travel.

May 29th 2005,
We all decided to do something adventurous, to go to the Mexican border, Tijuana. Was an experience of a lifetime! David, my husband almost got arrested there for having the camera on ready mode while walking through the 'red light' district (we took the wrong turn!). Phew, nothing happened then.

BBQ at Zee's house. Ribs, steaks and more ribs! Met a dear friend who has been my internet friend for 5 years...baru jumpa!




The whole trip was a short, casual one. I am glad that we made it to Issy's graduation, to Zee's house and to TJ.

Where to begin...

I have a lot of things to share here. But maybe I should just start with what is happening to me recently huh? Since its the end of May 2005..maybe I should share on my most meaningful experiences.
May was APAH (Asian / Pacific-islander American Heritage) month. I have been an APIC (Asian / Pacific Islander Connection) member with my cmpany for almost 2 years and thought this year, I would contribute substantially to this group. A group which I thought at first was just some Chinese, Filipino fiesta group and I said to myself, 'What the heck...just join lah..cos I am asian anyway'.
2 years later, I am a steering committee member for this group and I met a number of Indonesians, Chinese Malaysians and some other nationalities which I thought would never be mentioned in the group.
So...how have I been useful to this group? I helped put together an Indonesian Event called 'Gamelan Sekar Jaya'. It turned out to be an awesome and the most popular turnout for the entire month of Events!
And how has this group been useful to me? Inner satisfaction...that at least I could call this event one of my own with collaboration of others who are just as important in the group as me. So what if its Indonesian and not Malay? My great grannies were from Indonesia and I am sure the Gamelan is a universal tradition in the Malay community too.
Next year's event? Hopefully a Malay Wedding!!!!!!!! I am trying to fight for a calender space for this.

My first ever blog in my life! An electronic diary which is personal but not confidential so that I could share my life stroy with friends and relatives? Sounds crazy but I think that I am going to love it.
