Dear Abby...

Image hosted by Photobucket.com

If you can't read the words, it says :

“Wus up Abby,

I m sorry I can’t be there to tell or ask u dis but would u b my girl? I know u have been waiting so long 4 me to ask u dat. So would u be my love at least till the end of da summer?

Please giv me da answer on the bottom of dis page.

PS : Do not show it to anyone!

Peace Love: Mat

C U Soon!”

Yup… and the ibu is letting the whole world see it!

That was my son’s first love letter to his crush, Abigail. Abby is Masturah’s friend from the Summer Park & Recreation Program at the neighborhood park. Mat also goes to the Program and they happen to be in the same group. Now that they’re bigger, they tend to pay more attention to their friends from the opposite sex. Not also saying that Masturah does not have a crush! She was caught with a boy’s name written on her wrist!

Back to the letter, Masturah was the messenger and after Abby read the letter, it was passed around to the other girls in the group. When I asked Masturah if Abby said yes, she said, ‘Well, we girls thought that it is so ‘gay’ for a guy to send love letters to a girl.’ Gay???? Of course kids know what gay is but they don’t know the characteristics of being gay…sure…gay, happy whatever (you know she didn’t mean 'happy'!).

The husband and I decided to just let them grow and be normal. We wouldn’t want to interfere with their childhood (unless something negative starts to come out of it). The kids would usually bring their friends over after the Program and we get to observe the kids and their friends.

I know that this is just puppy love. No harm…yet. But we shall not hold our breaths when the kids get older.

p.s. we told Mat that he needed to write love letters using proper english, not sounding like a thug, sheesh!

and maybe da thug language is da in thing ibu?? kalau tak pakai, tak cool!

mas, u know that u're the tatter tale in this scenario. if not for u, this wouldnt have happened and this blog wouldnt have been created by me!

mammal, yes he is growing up. he dances in front of the mirror too when noone's looking.

aiyoh, the thug is so uncool to david. so dia dah kena warning. no thug influence allowed at all!

not da mama whos uncool babeh, its da daddeh who not be cool.

almaklumlah, in america, rap and thug influence is oh so tidak!

hehehheeee that is funny!!!!!!!!! Mat tak marah pulak...!!! heheheee

Yea, thug or Ebonics is probably the in thing with the youngsters these days :D It's ok as long as he doesn't write that way for his papers!!

ayu, hehehe, i know my kids. dia kalau buat muka selamba, means i am ok. u think i would post my daughters diaries? she wouldnt talk to me for the rest of my life!

hartini, thug is not ok here in america. in san francisco, more than 200 people were killed by thugs. if u sound and dress like one, u will be mistaken as one of them and there are tonnes of drive-by shooting. so the kids kena warning, no thug influence.

panjang cerita hartini, nanti satu hari i ceritakan.

Elly, you are funny lah! My son would be very mad if I post his first love letter for all to read! Your son is growing up and this is not going to be your first headache. Remember how I shared with you my worries and fears? I am still a worry mother and Daniel is already 22 years old. As for Missy, she has grown so much and all that arguing and tears paid off finally. She doesn't has a boyfriend after her puppy love broke her heart. She is concentrating more on her studies now and she will be a senior this July. Got her driver's license and it is my biggest worries.

Take care and keep in touch. Regards to David and your family. My children just came back from Singapore. Jul.

hey jul, thanks for visiting!

so missy got her license finally! got Dan or nervous eh?

rememeber i told u that the kids grow so fast. last time ur son was just 17 going to 18 and missy was growing up. look at them now!

my son? he knows that hes in the limelight. but i respect my daughters privacy cos shes the more emotional one.

i think that mat's love note is so precious. i am going to keep the letter for when he grows up or graduates hehehe.

ely babeh, if you keep that love letter (for life), how can abby get the letter? Remember Abby has been waiting for so long and we know that mat the thug is not gay. Hehe.. your kids are hilarious and i think i know why, must be your influence on them! Love them oredi i!

And please put up masturah's diary too, please.

Hi Masturah! Makcik (cough! cough) visited your spot too!

Yea it's true, Ely. Teenagers think hip hop, thug, ebonics, whatever is cool... but personally I don't think it is. Personally I think it's stupid to take on another culture's culture and abandoning one's own culture... but then teenagers will be teenagers, kan... and lots of them here trying to look Black and cool. But then over here, they don't get killed. Maybe they'll kill each other though. And the funny thing is, my educated Black friends don't even try to sound Black, or speak Ebonics! *hahahaa* I guess to each his own, and depends on what or who brings them up. As for Mat, yes, please remind him of the dangers...

oody, abby got the letter already. but we took the picture of it before masturah gave it to her.

hartini, my boss is black but hes so refined that my black co workers say that dia tak sedar diri. whatever it is, my boss kata he would spank his daughter if she listens to hip hop!

Anonymous said...

heheheheee!! That is funny! Tak sedar diri or not, I'm sure we'd rather deal with a refined black man than a thug, betoi tak ;)

Spike Lee said the same thing. He doesn't let his children listen to hip hop. My bf pun kata, when he has kids in the future, no hip hop for them. I pregnant kena dengar classical music *hahahaaa!!* Macam betoi je...! hehehee

Now that's what I call a GO-GETTER. No basa-basi, straight to the point seh!
So now that the letter's been posted to the gal and to the CYBER-WORLD, what's the outcome?! Girl said yes or no? Itu yg kita mau tau nih?
